History
Emily Carey Ferris and Charlotte Carey work together at Firesong
Silverworks creating jewelry in the family tradition.
The jewelry studio
started as Eden Northwest Hand Arts, which was created by Trey (John
Carey III) and Charlotte Carey. Trey worked with his father John Carey
training to make the simple yet elegant
Eden line of jewelry known as “screwball”.
The name comes from the threaded ball clasp, which allows a smooth and
invisible fastening. Although the screwball design is simple and
elegant, its production requires painstaking craftsmanship. Trey worked
as a skilled craftsperson in the family tradition supplying
Eden Hand Arts on Cape Cod from British Columbia, while raising
and teaching his children his values and skills.
Of
primary importance among those values is the Carey family commitment to
quality.
Trey passed away in
2002. Trey's daughter Emily Carey Ferris continues to work with
Charlotte Carey making and selling the traditional family jewelry on
this website.
Trey's life was one
of caring - for his family, his community and his craft. His standard of
excellence is still mirrored in all aspects of the family business, from
customer service to the warm and caring culture in the work shop at Firesong Silverworks and ultimately, to each piece of jewelry created
for your enjoyment.
Each piece of
jewelry is hand crafted so no two pieces are exactly alike. Our
jewelry
is made from sterling silver and 14kt. Gold. |
